Editor and historian Mike Ashley, whose nonfiction includes several volumes on the history of the science fiction magazines, has produced volumes in "The Mammoth Book of..." anthologies published by Robinson in the UK, and Carroll & Graf in the US, since 1988, many of theme on historic fantasy themes (King Arthur) or on comedic themes ("Seriously Comic Fantasy").
