Baen Books has, in recent decades, been more active than other US publishers in keeping classic, traditional science fiction in print (as well as publishing many novels and original anthologies on traditional SF themes). Perhaps Baen's most significant anthology is the 2005 volume from publisher Jim Baen and two authors associated with the publisher, gathering stories that had the most impact on them as they grew up in the 1950s and '60s. Each story is prefaced by one of the editors, describing how the story turned his own personal world upside down.
More recently editor Hank Davis has produced several anthologies on classic SF themes, often with humorous spins and with fannishly enthusiastic introductions, that rely heavily on works published from the 1930s to the 1970s, in contrast to other active anthologists who draw almost exclusively from recent decades.
Most frequent authors in this group: Fredric Brown and Sarah A. Hoyt (7 each, all of Hoyt's stories being originals); Murray Leinster (6); then Poul Anderson, David Drake, Robert Sheckley, and Clifford D. Simak (5 each).
